Weekly Excursions
Your experience in Merida extends far beyond the clinic. Weekend excursions are included in your program and give you the opportunity to explore some of the Yucatan Peninsula's most iconic destinations. Depending on the itinerary, you may spend the day relaxing on beautiful beaches, swimming in crystal clear cenotes, or visiting ancient Mayan archaeological sites.
Excursion destinations are selected based on availability and seasonal conditions, so locations may vary from cohort to cohort. Below are a few examples of places our participants have visited in previous programs.

Celestún Biosphere Reserve & Beach Day
Another memorable excursion from previous programs has been a visit to Celestún, a beautiful coastal destination known for its natural landscapes and abundant wildlife. The experience also included a visit to the historic Ruinas de La Herradura, a traditional Mayan clay treatment known as a “baño maya,” and a beachside lunch at a local restaurant where participants enjoyed fresh regional cuisine while taking in the coastal views.
Cenotes Hacienda Mucuyché
Hacienda Mucuyché has been one of the featured excursions for previous program cohorts. This beautifully restored 18th century estate, once visited by Empress Carlota of Mexico, offers a unique glimpse into Yucatán's colonial history. Participants toured the historic grounds, learned about the region's henequén (agave) industry, and floated through two breathtaking cenotes, one open and one underground, connected by a scenic canal. The experience also included a traditional Yucatecan lunch at the hacienda’s restaurant, where participants enjoyed local favorites such as panuchos, salbutes, and refreshing aguas frescas. It has been a favorite experience among past participants, combining history, nature, culture, and relaxation in one unforgettable day.
