Weekly Excursions

All excursions are included as part of your program experience. As a group, we will explore key cultural and historical landmarks such as Chichén Itzá and Hacienda Macuyché to deepen your understanding of the region and enhance your cultural competence as a future physical therapist. Program fees cover transportation, entrance fees, guides, and full staff support during all scheduled outings. One team meal will also be provided during the excursions, offering a chance to connect with fellow participants and reflect on your experiences in a relaxed setting.

Week 1

Chichenitza

Step back in time with a guided visit to Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Students will explore the iconic El Castillo pyramid, learn about ancient Maya science, architecture, and medicine, and experience the rich cultural history of Yucatán. Afterward, the group will cool off with a swim in a nearby cenote, followed by a local lunch and time to shop for artisan crafts

Week 2

Hacienda Mucuyche

Experience the elegance of Yucatán’s colonial past at Hacienda Mucuyché, a beautifully restored 18th-century estate once visited by Empress Carlota of Mexico. Students will tour the grounds and learn about the region’s henequén (agave) industry before floating through a pair of breathtaking cenotes—one open, one underground—connected by a scenic canal. It’s a perfect blend of history, nature, and relaxation.
